Reader Review by Bridie Moore I have used Viola Spolin's Improvisation for the Theatre for about 23 years now and the book has a number of games and exercises which have become an integral part of my teaching. Over all it is her passionate communication of a philosophy of performance, which puts the student/pupil at the centre of the work, that is so inspiring. Written specifically with children and young people in mind but in no way patronising or babyish it's a vital part of any drama teacher's library. I'm not sure if it's still in print, my copy has broken in half now but I still refer to it regularly. (Northwestern University Press, 1999) Editor's note: This book is still available and is now in its third edition. |
