Reader Review by Tom Fearon, Roseville, CA

Designed for teachers, this book is an excellent resource for classes with the 12-15 year old actor. I use this book in my Theatre Arts One: Beginning Theatre classes at our high school, grades 9-12. Divided into 5 chapters (Terms and Goals, Planning Your Program, Pantomime, Voice, and Improvisation and Scene-building), one of the things that sets this text apart is its use of worksheets. Each major acting exercise has a sample worksheet that teachers can adapt and use for their class. I find having the students take a few minutes at the start of the activity to fill out the worksheet is a great tool to focus them on the activity as well as help them brainstorm and be creative in their decisions. I highly recommend this book for both beginning and experienced theatre arts teachers!
